Honey Eyes by Sarah Zammit Munro

Honey Eyes by Sarah Zammit Munro

I write best when I’m falling in love or falling out of it.

I write best when I’m falling.

When I was broken, when I was head over heels;

When I was overwhelmed,

When my heart tossed and turned in the space of in-between;

When my insides turned into melted honey;

When your gaze merged my fears into passion;

When I drowned in your hazelnut gaze.

Eyes speak words only poets will understand.

Your gaze screams genuine love,

You know truths my heart would rather conceal.

Eye contact will always be more intimate than words will ever be.

But words are a pretty close second.
